“Glory” Regiment, 54th Massachusetts Voluntary Infantry Regiment, Attacks Fort Wagner, 150 Years Ago – History in the Headlines

This Memorial Day I remember and honor the dead of the 54th Massachusetts Voluntary Infantry Regiment attack on Fort Wagner.

My heroes have always been Black Women, I might have had to seek them out but I found them. It wasn’t until the movie Glory that I realized that there were large numbers of heroic Black Men outside of athletes and Civil Rights/Black Liberation movements. This too is America’s history although it has been omitted from the history of this country that is taught. http://www.history.com/news/glory-regiment-attacks-fort-wagner-150-years-ago
