Today is February 1, the start of Black History Month. So the questions always asked by “white folks” and some blacks are why do we need a Black History Month and/or is Black History Month still necessary. The answer is because neither blacks contributions to the world nor the history of Africa before colonization are taught in any history class that I know of. It’s because of this lie of omission or as we currently name it, #AlternativeFacts, that “White Folks” assume incorrectly that Africans are primitive savages that were educated and civilized by the benevolent, white countries.
